- Principles and Purpose
- Scope: These regulations govern the use of all documents held in the archives.
- Purpose of Use: As a general rule, the documents may be used for academic research, local history research, educational purposes, or to resolve legitimate private matters.
2. Application and Approval
- Application Requirement: Anyone wishing to use the archive must submit a written application. The application must include the applicant’s name, the purpose of the visit, and the research topic.
- Discretion: As this is a private archive, the owner decides whether to grant permission at his or her own discretion. Permission may be revoked at any time, particularly in the event of violations of the rules.
3. Types of Use
- On-site Use: In individual cases, materials may be viewed under supervision in the rooms designated by the owner.
- Online Use: For private use, we offer various time-limited options for downloading materials. Alternatively, images may be obtained digitally in the specified format for a fee.
- Information: Alternatively, written or verbal information may be provided.
- Reproductions: The taking of photographs or making of copies requires express consent. There is no entitlement to reproductions.
4. Retention Periods and Restrictions
- Protection of Individuals: The archive does not contain any records relating to living individuals or subject to special retention periods.
- Condition: If the use of originals would endanger their condition, the owner may refuse to provide the originals or refer the user to copies.
5. User Responsibilities
- Care: Archival materials must be handled with the utmost care. It is prohibited to alter the internal organization of the materials, make any markings on them, or remove them from the premises.
- Liability: Users are liable for any damage caused by improper handling.
- Copyright: The user is solely responsible for ensuring that the copyrights and personal rights of third parties are respected in the event of publication.
6. Copy for the Archives
- If archival material is used for a publication (book, article, web post), the owner is entitled to request a free copy for the archives or a link to the publication.
7. Fees for document retrieval and research outside of our online services
These fees cover the costs associated with reviewing and compiling the documents.
- Basic fee for on-site archive use: €5.00 to €15.00 per person per day.
- Research request (by archive staff): €30.00 per half-hour or portion thereof.
- Retrieval fee: approx. €1.00 per archival item/file.
7. Reproductions (Copies & Digital Copies)
Prices vary depending on format and resolution.
- Digital copy (standard): €5.00 to €10.00 per file.
- High-resolution scans (print quality): €15.00 to €30.00 per file.
- Copies in PDF format (A4/A3): €1.00 to €2.00 per page.
9. Usage Fees (Publication Rights)
Additional fees apply if the material is used in publications or media. This is only possible if the archive also holds the corresponding copyright usage rights.
- Academic/local history use: Often free of charge or a small flat fee (approx. €10.00 per image).
- Commercial use (books/magazines): €30.00 to €100.00 per image (depending on print run), unless otherwise agreed.
- Film & television: €30.00 to €60.00 per minute of airtime or part thereof.
