Our photo database documents the German Federal Railway’s independent post-war new-build program. The focus of this collection is on the steam locomotives developed from 1950 onwards, designed under the leadership of Friedrich Witte. These models were characterized by welded high-performance boilers, improved working conditions for the crew, and a distinctive, modern design.
